International Energy Agency predicts that the number of electric buses and trucks sold is expected to grow significantly over the next decade.

In 2024, around 1 million electric buses and trucks will be sold globally.

From there, the forecast predicts steady growth, with sales reaching 12.7 million by 2035.

This significant growth is likely due to a number of factors, including increasing government support for electric vehicles, falling battery costs, and growing concerns about air pollution.

When comparing the forecast for total light and commercial BEV sales with BEV trucks and buses sales, it’s also evident that combining bus and truck sales will account for 3-4% of total BEV sales globally.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese unveiled a fleet of 43 electric trucks in Sydney, representing a significant milestone in Australia’s cleaner transport initiative under the Government’s Driving the Nation program. He was joined by Minister Chris Bowen, Christine Holgate, CEO of Team Global Express, and Martin Lundstedt, the global CEO of Volvo.

Overall, the forecast for electric bus and truck sales is positive. The global market is expected to grow significantly over the next decade, driven by a number of factors. This growth is expected to have a positive impact on the environment and the economy.

The shift to electric vehicles is also expected to create new jobs in the automotive industry.
